Hu Dexiang

【Personal Information】:

Hu Dexiang is Professor of English at the School of Foreign Languages, Central China Normal University. She finished her doctorate in 2005 in English Language and Literature at East China Normal University in Shanghai. She was a visiting scholar to the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures, The University of Manchester, UK, from 2009 to 2010. She has published more than twenty articles in various academic journals. At present she is the vice director of Center for Translation Studies at CCNU, member of Hubei Translators Association and China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese.

Her research interest and teaching areas include: Translation Theory and Practice, Translation Criticism, Literary Translation, Comprehensive English, and Comparative Studies between Chinese and Western Translation Theories. She has been teaching undergraduate English majors for about thirty years, and from 2006 she began to give lectures on Translation Criticism, Appreciation of Famous Translations, and Western Translation Theory to postgraduate students majoring in Translation.
